Looking at building a 48′ square home with a 4/12 or 5/12 pitch roof and thinking of a 4′ overhang to eliminate the need for gutters. We are in the Atlanta, GA area with lots of pine needles that clog gutters. What will work best?"

I think 2-3 feet overhang is plenty to go without gutters … probably 3" is better 🙂 Pitch doesn’t make much of a difference. 4 might be overkill, because it will use a lot more materials (increase cost). However if home is 2 stories, then probably 4′ is better…
The downside of no gutters is rain water all around your home, when you come out…
